Inserita nella splendida Campagna Romana di proprietà dei Principi Aldobrandini,offre due opzioni ricettive, la prima nei casali ristrutturati del centro agricolo di Capanna Murata (antica sede di un complesso termale romano), la seconda all'interno di affascinanti appartamenti nel Borgo Medievale con il meraviglioso Castello di Papa Giulio II della Rovere a far da sfondo.

Le quatro camere e i cinque appartamenti di cui si compone sono finemente arredati con mobili di antiquariato e di artigianato locale, pavimentate con piastrelle di cotto ricoperte da caldi tappeti persiani ed impreziosite da tende realizzate con tessuti pregiati ed illuminate da lumi in raffinato vetro di Murano.

Ostia Antica – “The better Pompeii” Ostia Antica is a beautifully preserved example of an ancient city that grew to become the Roman Empire’s most prominent port. The history of Ostia Antica stretches far back in time: according to tradition, although not yet confirmed, to the 6th Century B.C., when it was founded by king Ancus Martius as the first Roman colony. In reality, the oldest remains of Ostia only date back to the 4th Century B.C. and belonged to the first fortified citadel. The name Ostia comes from the Latin "ostium", meaning mouth of the Tiber. For a long time Ostia was Rome's only river port, where large freight ships that arrived here had to unload their cargo onto smaller boats that were able to go up the river to Rome. The barges, drawn by long lines of buffalo moving along the banks, reached the harbor of Forum Boarium, located near the Isola Tiberina. The inhabitants of Ostia were merchants, ship owners, craftsmen, laborers, freed-men and slaves of different languages and religions. Ostia's cosmopolitan nature can be seen in the sanctuaries, temples and shrines dedicated to the local gods as well as to the Eastern ones, mainly Persian, Phrygian and Egyptian. The excavations of Ostia are quite extensive and more than rival those of Pompeii. The site boasts numerous marvellous mosaics, many of which are still perfectly preserved, that decorate the pavements and provide us with a goldmine of information on the cities with which Ostia carried on trade, on the goods dealt with and on the guilds working at the port.

Shaded by pine trees and evergreens, explore Ostia Antica to see remains of temples, thermal baths, fishmongers, taverns and apartment blocks. Step on the ancient paving of the city’s main street lined by warehouses and store premises. Marvel at beautifully preserved mosaics in the Baths of Neptune. Visit the market square overlooked by the 2nd century theatre and discover the sites of merchant premises with interesting store front mosaics. Explore the huge thermal baths with amazing examples of ancient hydraulic engineering and be amused by a nicely preserved public latrine and its efficient plumbing. See the city’s Forum and its temples, basilica and city hall. Climb to the top of a residential block and enjoy a roof top view of the city center. Have a look at a tavern with original counter, benches and outdoor garden and stroll along side streets visiting the interior of a bakery with original mill stones and ovens. To round off your experience, you can visit the small archaeological museum with its sculptures, mosaics and ornaments in order to grasp the lifestyle of Ostia Antica’s inhabitants.

Ostia Antica – “Le meilleur Pompeii”

Ostia Antica est un example merveilleusement preservé d’une ancienne ville qui s’était transformée en le port le plus important de l’Empire Romain. L’histoire de Ostia Antica remonte loin dans le temps : Selon quelques sources non pas encore confirmées jusqu’au 6^ième siècle avant Jésus Christ quand la ville fut fondée comme première colonie romaine par le Roi Ancus Martius. Les vestiges conservés les plus anciens remontent pourtant seulement jusqu’au 4^ième siècle avant Jésus Christ et faisaient partie de la première citadelle fortifiée. Le nom Ostia vient du mot latin « Ostium » qui signifie « embouchure du fleuve ». Pendant longtemps Ostia était le seul port fluvial romain, où les grands cargos devaient faire escale pour fréter leur chargement sur des bateaux plus petits qui pouvaient naviguer sur le fleuve juqu’à Rome. Les barques étaient tirées par de longues lignes de buffles le long de la rive du fleuve jusqu’à l’arrivée au port du Forum Boarium près de l’île Tiberina. Les habitants de Ostia étaient des commerçants, propriétaires de bateaux, artisans, affranchis et esclaves de toutes les langues et religions. La nature cosmopolite de Ostia Antica se montre dans les sanctuaires, temples et reliquaires dediés non seulement aux dieux locaux, mais aussi aux dieux orientaux, avant tout aux persans, phrygiens et égyptiens. Les fouilles de Ostia sont assez étendues et plus que concurrencent celles de Pompeii. Beaucoup des numereuses mosaïques merveilleuses qui ornent le pavé du site archéologique ont été conservées dans un état impeccable et nous livrent une multitude d’informations sur les villes avec qui Ostia faisait du commerce, sur les marchandises commercées et sur les guildes qui travaillaient au port.

Découvrez Ostia Antica dans l’ombre des pins afin de voir les vestiges des temples, des stations thermales, des poissonneries, des tavernes et des lotissements. Mettez les pieds sur le pavé antique de la rue principale de la ville bordée de dépôts et magazins. Admirez les mosaïques merveilleusement conservées dans les bains de Neptune. Visitez la place du marché surplombée d’un théâtre du 2^ième siécle et découvrez les mosaïques interessantes sur les façades des magazins. Explorez les immenses stations thermales et les examples étonnants pour les capacités en ingénierie hydraulique. Jetez un coup d’oeil amusé sur la latrine publique bien conservée et sa tuyauterie efficace. Explorez le forum, les temples, la basilique et l’hôtel de ville. Montez sur le toit d’un immeuble et profitez de la vue sur le centre-ville. Jetez un regard sur une taverne avec son bar, ses bancs et son jardin originaux et flânez le long des rue latérales dans lesquelles vous pouvez entre autres visitez l’intérieur d’une boulangerie avec ses meules et ses fours originaux. Visitez le petit musée archéologique avec ses sculptures, mosaïques et ornements afin de pouvoir vous faire une meilleure idée du style de vie des anciens habitants de Ostia Antica et ainsi compléter votre expérience.

Ostia Antica – “Das bessere Pompeii” Ostia Antica ist ein wundervoll erhaltenes Beispiel für eine antike Stadt, die zum bedeutensten Hafen des Römischen Imperiums heranwuchs. Die Geschichte Ostia Anticas reicht weit in die Vergangenheit zurück: Noch unbestätigten Überlieferungen zufolge bis ins 6. Jahrhundert vor Christus, als die Stadt von König Ancus Martius als erste Römische Kolonie gegründet wurde. Die ältesten erhaltenen Überreste gehen allerdings nur auf das 4. Jahrhundert vor Christus zurück und gehörten zu der ersten befestigten Zitadelle. Der Name Ostia stammt vom Lateinischen Wort „Ostium“, das „Flussmündung“ bedeutet. Ostia war für lange Zeit Roms einziger Flusshafen, an dem große Frachtschiffe anlegen mussten, um ihre Ladung auf kleinere Boote zu verfrachten, die den Fluss bis nach Rom befahren konnten. Die Kähne wurden von langen Reihen am Flussufer entlang trottender Büffel gezogen, bis sie den Hafen des Forum Boarium nahe der Insel Tiberina erreichten. Die Einwohner von Ostia waren Händler, Schiffsbesitzer, Handwerker, Arbeiter, Freigelassene und Sklaven verschiedenster Sprachen und Religionen. Ostias kosmopolitische Natur zeigt sich in den Heiligtümern, Tempeln und Schreinen, die sowohl lokalen als auch orientalischen Göttern, vor allem Persischen, Phrygischen und Ägyptischen, gewidmet waren. Die Ausgrabungen von Ostia sind relativ weitläufig und denen von Pompeii mehr als nur ebenbürtig. Viele der zahlreichen wunderbaren Mosaike, die die Straßenpflaster der Ausgrabungsstätte zieren, sind in einwandfreiem Zustand erhalten und liefern uns eine Vielzahl an Informationen über die Städte, mit denen Ostia Handel trieb, über die gehandelten Waren und die am Hafen arbeitenden Gilden. Erkunden Sie Ostia Antica im Schatten von Pinienbäumen, um die Überreste von Templen, Thermalbädern, Fischgeschäften, Tavernen und Wohnsiedlungen zu betrachten. Setzen Sie Fuß auf das antike Pflaster der Hauptstraße der Stadt, die von Warenlagern und Geschäften gesäumt war. Bestaunen Sie die wunderbar erhaltenen Mosaike in den Neptunbädern.
