Calanchi valley

The Calanchi (gullies) district is very ancient. Crossed by the Lubriano and Torbido creeks, tributaries of the Tiber river, The Calanchi district includes very different landscapes and it was born more than one million years ago, when the sea covered almost the whole area leaving  its sediments. Around 700.000 years ago the sea receded and all the lands were devastated by an intense volcanic activity.
